Dire a mi oooh
Always liked the feel of Manzanera and Eno...On this record you get Paul Thompson, Eddie Jobson and Andy Mackay and a host of 70's Brit progladites. Side 2 a delight.
The lyrics of Frontera, someone once told me is basically a Venezuelan customs form translated into English. Anyone here with a working knowledge of Spanish care to elaborate...?
Been going through my old vinyl lately and finally got to THIS ONE about a week ago. Now I can't stop playing it! To my ear it almost has no hint that it's a record of its time....the recording quality is beautiful! It strays into an "Eno-sounding" record at times and that's the only time it sounds a bit dated. That's OK though....'cause I like Eno records too, lol! This one Manzanera record stacks up pretty admirably against the myriad of Brian Ferry solo work!
Wow Phil hired the master Robert Wyatt who can sing in Spanish like nobody's business. Quiet sun definitely a Canterbury band and definitely part of his life.
Redone by Robert Wyatt as "Team Spirit" on Ruth Is Stranger Than Richard. Features Brian Eno on "direct inject anti-jazz ray gun" (actually a VCS3) and some great sax work from the late lamented Gary Windo.
