I was playing in Rochester N.Y. in '61 when Roland was playing there also. He and I and a couple of other musicians were shopping at a department store when we ran into each other going through some 33 RPM records. He had come to the club where we were playing as we had done with him so he knew who we were. He said to me very seriously as he was going through the records.... "Hey Sammy! They don't have my album here". We all laughed so hard including him we almost peed our pants. What a super fine man. Sam McClaskey AKA: Sammy Lee Philadelphia Local 17 AF of M. Nino Barry Agency.

coincidentally came out the same year as Coltrane's "My Favorite Things"....same jazz waltz meter, and very similar treatment---nothing wrong with that!
"....the players on instruments shall be there...." [Psalm 87:7] A very early arrival will have been jazz virtuoso, Roland Kirk: his music will continue to soothe and stimulate in equal measure.
