First time singing along to this song. Holy shit. You get a lot closer to understanding the emotion behind it when you sing along.

5:00 sounds eerily similar to the opening of Oedipus, and both have very blatant Greek mythology references. Regina what are you planning.

When she says "Sit on the grass and eat all the flowers" it's like she catches herself not making any sense and tries to speak everyone else's language. ". . . and shit." it's brilliant.

You might also try Suzanne Vega, Tori Amos, and, most of all, and Kate Bush.

I really enjoy her references to Greek mythology. Icarus was giving wings made of wax and feathers by his father, but he ignored his instructions to not fly to close to the sun an the wings melted. He fell into the ocean and drowned. I don't think most people realize just how dark this woman's work is. It's hauntingly amazing.

I love her older shit. "Remember Us to Life" is closer to her original stuff than her two previous albums. It's my new favorite.

They keep on burying our dead They keep on planting their bones in the ground But they won't grow, the sun doesn't help And all we've got is a giant crop of names and dates Possibly my favorite lines :)

She's the only artist I've heard that isn't afraid to sound strange, because it's her. She expresses herself better than anyone I've ever listened to. Awesome lyrics, awesome piano, awesome voice. Beautiful.

She is definitely my favorite artist. She expresses herself so well... I'm seriously awe struck by her raw talent and self expression. There's so much i want to say, but when it comes to Regina Spektor, I'm speechless.

Fun fact: She recorded this album in her friend's studio on Christmas (no one else wanted to record on Christmas) and thought about naming this album Two Jews on Christmas.

One thing I noticed through her songs is, Regina loves History :)

I hear the Oedipus at the end.

It's such an awesome song. I'm not sure it's necessarily based on Mozart's Requiem; the Lacrimosa is a standard text from the Requiem Mass and has been set by many composers.
