Standing by the surf coasting on the shore, carried by the wind sighing feeling free
Watching winter pools take me to the sea, where i am real
Lonely winter day makes me want to stay, where i am real
sun sets slowly and night returns once more
lonely winter day makes me want to stay
shells are tangled in seaweed drifting strands
Pools of silence stem peace is sounding all around me, shadows in the night echoes of the sea inside me, there where i belong
Carried by the wind sighing feeling free, carried by the wind sighing feeling free
Rivers flowing down streaming in the sand, there where i belong, watching winter pools take me to the sea
There where i belong, where i am real, watching winter pools take me to the sea
Where i am real, pools of silence stem peace is sounding all around me, there where i belong
Shells are tangled in seaweed drifting strands, lonely winter day makes me want to stay
where i am real
where i am real
Sun sets slowly and night returns once more, watching winter pools take me to the sea
there where i belong
Sun sets slowly and night returns once more, where i am real Sounds, standing by the surf coasting on the shore
on the beach alone seabirds circle there above me
Lonely winter day makes me want to stay, lonely winter day makes me want to stay, pools of silence stem peace is sounding all around me
sun sets slowly and night returns once more
rivers flowing down streaming in the sand
Where i am real, standing by the surf coasting on the shore Of, where i can feel sounds of the sea
I have and had many favorite rock bands ... but now I have to say that affirmatively Renaissance is my all time favorite. I never stopped playing their music since the 70's. My son grew up knowing of this band and their music. When he was a teen he was as awestruck by them as I was. This coming September we will see them in concert along with his wife, who had never heard of them. She doesn't know what a treat this will be.
This lovely song by a wonderful band always gives me goosebumps! I regularly walk along the beach my father once walked as a small child, and this song always echoes in my head. The waves are both a token of remembrance and the of years/decades to come. Thank you Annie & Renaissance
I discovered Renaissance in the early 80s. One of my alltime favorites, and then my daughter got into them too. My daughter could actually sing Annie Haslam's parts. We used to do "covers" (more like excerpts) at the open mic, I could sing the harmony. The best of all is that Annie Haslam came to Philly & we got to meet her!!!
I bought this album when it first came out in 72 based on this song alone. I was 14. Ashes are Burning and Turn of the Cards turned it up a notch but it was already at 9.
I have commented elsewhere on Annie a "Bolton Lass" the most versatile instrument the human voice , I have known this for over 40 years in Annie's case a god given gift
I asked someone to record sounds of the sea for me years ago so i could relax through a stressful time in my life and they recorded this track for me.
It wasn't exactly what i was looking for but upon hearing this it was a nice mistake and now i always listen to this beautifully haunting track.
Renaissance has always been one of my favorite bands of all time, but my absolute favorite singer will always Annie Haslam!!! This is music magick!!!!!
