The way Brazilians see Funk Carioca reminds me of how people viewed Hip-Hop, Dancehall, and Reggaeton in their early years. People hate it because it's too vulgar and comes from the lower class, but some smart producer comes along, realizes the potential of the catchy rhythm, makes it pop-friendly, and it's a global hit. Only then, people appreciate it.
