To all the people comparing Silverchair to Nirvana: Actually, Daniel recently said that he used to listen to Nirvana back in the day. And, what's so wrong if Nirvana inspired them? Why is everybody complaing? I wish I could write songs like this one when I was 15-17, I mean, I didn't even know how to play guitar at that age...
Silverchairs' sound, at the time, had a lot more in common with Helmet than Nirvana. If you insist on comparing bands at least be savvy enough to do it right.
no they wer never a "big fan" of Nirvana...they didn't like that much and Nirvana wasn't their main influence at the time. their main influences wer black Sabbath and led Zeppelin
Kurt this, Kurt that.... how many bands aside from just silverchair were probably forced by their record company to try and be like Nirvana?
At least it's still good stuff... and as far as Daniel's image, I always thought of him as having more of an Aussie surfer boy look than a ripoff of Kurt.
Whats the big deal, i bought this CD the day it came out and listened to it until it literally broke. And yes, i thought that it had a very similar sound to nirvana... and he had a similar wail compared to kurt cobain. It was the genre and style of music... I am not going to say they sound completely different because honestly as a 14 year old kid at the time i really liked that they sounded similar.
Did everyone hating forget they were like 16 when this came out!? Who else has ever heard kids that age rock like this, and with a singer with a voice as strong as Daniels?
