Stop you're trying to bruise my mind
I can do it on my own
Stop you're trying to kill my time
It's been my death since I was born
I don't remember half the time if I'm hiding or I'm lost
But I'm on my way, on my way... RIP Chris Cornell
I remember buying this at a yardsale when I was 12 in the early 2000's. It forever changed my life. On my birthday that year I also picked up Dirt by Alice in Chains because the cover looked cool. Those albums showed me what Rock was.
Kim's playing is insanely good. Of course, Chris is a god, and I miss him terribly. But it seems like people don't talk about how amazing the rest of the band is anymore. This is just sublime.
I remember buying this on cassette for no other reasons except it was a new release and on sale. I listened to this entire album non-stop for weeks. I carried it with me everywhere, putting on my headphones between classes, at lunch, walking home from school, and falling asleep to it. I spent many a night inspired by lyrics to write pages and pages of teenage angst. I'm so thankful for music that was music.
Matt Cameron is a god on the kit..... Chris has the voice of god and jesus........ Ben Sheppard is a asskicking animal (like god)............... and Kim is a badass, amazing guitar player....... a guitar god
I always get excited when I listen to the intro building up to its climax, transitioning to the meat of the song with a really cool chord and time signature change.
Soundgarden at its peak in the 90's! The yelling of Chris Cornell on that one is of cosmic magnitude. Might have contacted alien civilisations and made them afraid.
