Speaking as a Scottish Highlander, I can hear some of my home in this music, seems you Americans couldn’t shake your Celtic roots. I love a song that tells a story, and this is a great one! Love it.

This song remind me of my older buddies who served in Nam . Just about all of them felt betrayed by their Country . Then we learned about the CIA smuggling Herion back in the caskets of dead soldiers . They gave there lives for drug dealers not their country . Sorry about the rant , I guess it's time to put the jar up.

If it's not moonshine, it's our Second Amendment, or something else. The principles of this song are timeless. I think it'd be ironic if a fed likes this song.

now that it's semi-legal to grow weed, "Pettimore" the 4th will have to plant something else. ;) Steve became a 1000 times better in the following decades

This song of Steve E's appeals to every one of my musical appreciation senses. It's not the only one of his I love, but it's the first one I ever think about should his name crop up, and I play the album in my car at least once a week, years after I bought the CD. .... Way to Go Steve !

Alcohol, drugs and tax evasion. What's not to like about this song ;-) Who’s got this on in 2020??? The 48K people who dislike this song are soulless, lost individuals.

I was curious so I just did the math and 100 pounds of yeast is enough to make 6500 gallons of Mash. Went to Town twice a year so 13,000. After Distilling the mash, that's about 4,000 gallons of alcohol. Moonshine season Runs about 26 weeks. That'd be running about 153 gallons a week. 3 to keep, 150 to bootleg. Sounds like He knew his stuff when he wrote this.

Being Irish, I am ashamed to read some of the comments below between the Scots and the Irish in particular. Ive written an album based on the life of those people who found themselves searching for a new start, weaving the stories and music from traditional to todays modern styles to show its progression over the years , I researched it for months beforehand, and I can tell you they payed a heavy price for their freedom, the Scots and the Irish both settled the Appalachian region, their brewing skills and lively music made a deep impression on what was to become Americana music. This is something they are very proud of, as we should be, no need for the angry twisted sentiments, you weren't there, didn't dig the soil or sow the crops, Keep your nasty keyboard warrior politics out of it, it just diminishes the music for all of us.
