To do something really different with the electric guitar, and still have it be an electric guitar, Steve Hackett does it incredibly well ! thanks for the post !

Since Steve Left GENESIS and a bit before with Acholyte....Steve is that vital active, continuous 45 year link to the old Genesis.

I'm glad that they don't make music like this anymore! It draws us back to the classic era of music! Otherwise, we would be listening to the newer music and forgetting where it all came from! Long live classic rock, especially progressive rock!

As much as I adore Acolyte, I think this is my favorite Steve tune ever... and to think of the shyte Genesis was putting on vinyl at this time... the most neglected and underrated prog/rock guitarist ever, hands down.

me too, it was a magical show. i was overly impressed by his control over his settings. switching his sounds on a dime was so impressive! and this was 30 yrs ago when the guitar player did it all his self for the most part.

This seems almost a variation on "Fly on a Windshield".

I couldn't agree more. When Hackett left Genesis the depth of sound vanished from subsequent recordings. I found it laughable that Banks almost equated Steurmer with Hackett in guitar ability

My god, how this delivers me in an instant to those mad nights of mushrooms, magicians and maniacs in the middle of the New Forest. A period in my life now viewed with regret, as it will never again occur, and too many of those friends are gone, yet that sadness is complemented, perhaps even negated, by the sheer joy of the power within us. Strange how a lone flute can bring it all thundering back, and draw those memories swelling as swells the song. Amazing. Thank you, Steve et al.
