I hear that Sun Ra didn't actually believe he's from Saturn, but used it as a way to open peoples minds to ideas that were radical at his time, but has since become more common place. He was ahead of his time, understanding fully the internal nature of the universe as Carl Jung or score writers like Thoreau and his mentor (whose name escapes me) tried to preach through the masses. He also understood transcendence from physical to metaphysical is best told through music. What a guy!
