Steve Hillage is a rare kind of artist. He was already known in the seventies for his own brand of Space Rock (I'm referring to his early solo albums, not to what he did earlier with Gong, although that was an important period too in his musical career) but he is also one of very few musicians from that period who managed to remain relevant into the 21st century thanks to this new project called System 7. I like what he does a lot.
at 61 I guess I've loved all of Steve Hillage's many musical evolutions. This has the vibe of "You" era Gong but builds on it in a very contemporary way. Miquette is his muse of that there is little doubt but is also a very accomplished synth stylist. Together they make music for the ages. Great and timely post.
I love System 7....the couple comes from afar....they have been so good and original for so many years, since Gong....thanks! Really! Your music is so nice....
Ahhhh! That’s what it’s all about right there! Life changing music. Had to call my teenage daughter in and have her listen to this. I told her if she ever wanted to know what her dad was about, this is what dad is about! Serendipity!!!!!!
I suggest you do your homework Zlatkovitz. Hillage and Giraudy were producing this sort of music back in the early seventies with Gong and Soft Machine and are acknowledged as the forefathers of what you know today as trance. Also Alex Paterson of the Orb regularly guests with them and Hillage and Giraudy have also collaborated with Tim Blake who produced commercial trance music as early as 1976. Maybe you are a generation later than those of us who heard it the first time around, but enjoy anyway.
