Legendary. I sometimes feel like I've been birthed a few years late, if only I were in them ol'American days when people were so classy, jazzy and patriotic!
My dad, a WWII Air Corp vet, used to tell me this when I started to act dumb as a kid. Funny thing is that I now use this expression to remind myself to tighten up and fly right.
Being born in the 80s is getting screwed over when it comes to music. The Andrews Sisters were and still are the greatest singers who ever lived. No other group can I find literally 100s of songs by and love every song. These girls were greatest generation through and through.
A buzzard took a monkey for a ride in the air
The monkey thought that everything was on the square
The buzzard tried to throw the monkey off of his back
But the monkey grabbed his neck and said, "Now listen, Jack"
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top
Ain't no use in divin'
What's the use of jivin'?
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top
The buzzard told the monkey, "You are chokin' me
Release your hold and I will set you free"
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye and said
"Your story's so touching, it sounds just like a lie"
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top
The buzzard told the monkey, "You are chokin' me
Release your hold and I will set you free"
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye and said
"Your story's so touching, it sounds just like a lie"
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and stay right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top.
