This is the 4th version of this song I've heard. This is the 2nd version of The Originals version of this song.

What do you mean by "a COVER" of this song? The Monitors' version was the original, recorded years before any version by The Originals.

The monitors version came out in 1968 with different lyrics and different instrument arrangement. The originals version came out in 1970. Marvin's version came out In 1973. He took the original's version, stripped the drums, changed the lyrics but kept their background vocals. The version here sounds more like a combo of Marvin's version and the originals version

The Monitors also do a cover of it too.

Like a true music genius, it seems Marvin was the one who wasn’t satisfied when it came to this amazing one he wrote. After 5 years and 2 or 3 different versions by 2 different groups, he finally put his own stamp on it for the “Let’s Get It On” album. But I have to say this particular version by The Originals is the one I love best. The Doo Wop arrangement, that signature Motown Sound of 1969-70 (including the false fade out at 3:13...a trick that Marvin used for the “What’s Going On” single release as an “encore” effect), and knowing Marvin’s stamp is all over it. I always have to play it more than once.

I am a Marvin Gaye fan but I like this version better than any of them it's about a man loving a woman working with his hands and sweat from his brow

You may be right. I'd forgotten about that one. In any case The marvin Gaye and Monitors' were both recorded LONG before The Originals'.
