One of the best groups of all time!! Loved their music growing up, and still do today. Was flipping through the radio stations in the car today and heard this song. This is one you just have to turn up and sing your heart out to.
Back when music brought everyone together on the dance floor no matter what color you were. Good times and fond childhood memories at the skating rink every weekend.
This is my favorite version. It's not the same as Sam Cooke, it's funky, it's disco, it's motown, they made it their own. Not to take anything away from Sam Cooke. Some songs just need a kickstart, a little electricity. You won't be strutting to the original of this. That's for sure.
John aced this version. Sad how he had a stroke and can't perform on stage anymore but there's times he's on stage in his wheelchair and he will sing with them. Thank you Henry for keeping the spinners spinning. Sing in peace to the fallen members.
G.C.Cameron started out with It's A Shame by The Detroit Spinners on Motown followed by Phillipe Wynne known as The Spinners on Atlantic later by John Edwards
Okay, so I wanted to hear this song again cuz it was my beloved mother's song back in the days. Mom, I miss you ten years after passing and will miss you another 100 more.
With all due respect to the great and legendary Sam Cooke, this version of the Spinners takes the song to a whole new level in terms of soulfulness and vocal perfection. Amazing, really.
WHEN JOHN AND I USE TO SING AT TEDA GREENE'S LOUNGE IN MIAMI, FLORIDA BRING BACK THE BEST MEMORIES IN MY LIFE. i MISS YOUR VOICE JOHN YOU ARE THE BEST.
