The program itself has been a timeless classic and seasonal favourite since my father was a child. I truly hope they don't stop airing the re-runs every Christmas.
I would like to thank Vince and his trio for introducing me to jazz so many years ago. I would have given anything to have this album when I was a kid.
Whenever I hear this rendition of "Oh Christmas Tree" by Vince Guaraldi, I'm a kid again living at 6-B Civic Park Apartments in 1969. It's just not Christmas unless I hear this rendition. At Christmas time, we could hardly wait to see "A Charlie Brown Christmas
" on TV. I really miss those days.
Every year, this CD set is played at my place while we put up Christmas decorations. This and some real egg nog, almond toffee, and curling up in a blanket.
"Lights, please."
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding
in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the glory of the Lord shone round about them:
and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the
heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.
That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown...
