sTILL MY FAVORITE ALBUM =I HAVE 4 VINYLS AND 6-10 CD'S IN CASE ONE GETS SCRATCHED- JOCK DID A NICE JOB ON THIS BUT dAVID IS NO SLOTCH ON GUITAR EITHER!
Sunset Ride has been my favorite album since I first heard it in 1972! Jock Bartley went on to play with Gram Parsons and The Fallen Angels. Candy's vocals are tight and powerful and the jazz/rock suits her voice!
"Sunset Ride" is one of my all-time favorite albums ... has been for decades. I've had my vinyl LP since somewhere in the mid-70s, and a CD version was added to my collection in recent years, so I can also enjoy it in my car. Three years ago, I moved from Connecticut to Arizona ... and somehow the album sounds even better now, being that much closer to Colorado. Superb band, dynamite album, great songs ... and one of the very best album covers ever!!!
Sunset Ride. Zephyr's masterpiece. Candy Givens at her creative peak. Jock Bartley. I bought this when it first came out because of a positive review in Rolling stone. That's one purchase I've never regretted
Thanks, Leksaksfan, for the upload of one of best of the "Should Have Beens" during a time of unparalleled creative width and growth in history. However, as a word to the wise is said to be sufficient, I offer the suggestion "FLAT", and I'm not referring to any of the musicians sense of pitch. That Bass Bulge is ugly.
Wow!! Back to the real music of the early '70s...superb guitar by then newcomer to the band - Jock Bartley...what licks, tight arrangement, including Candy's harp/vocals...thanks leksa.. for the walk down memory lane - a real classic!!
Danny was a good pianist, John Alphonse did great on Conga...I remember like it was yesterday. She was a tuff cookie, excellent on harp. Thank you...David is still my Big Bubba, she called him "Hunnabunna Man"! He can pop those bass strings still! Thank you!
