this past summer was one of the worst in my short 17 years on this planet. my mom was quickly succumbing to bone cancer and everyday was a massive struggle to face. i was massively depressed, and everyone in my family was hurting. i discovered cat power pretty soon before my mom passed away. in some ways, listening to cat power brought me a vague peace of mind, like life would continue on and despite all of the hardships that was going on i would still be here, and i would still wake up each day and have a life that i could enjoy. it’s 5 months later now and things are still tough, but i would say that cat power was and still is my lifeline, one of the artists that give me a sense of hope. so thank you Chan Marshall, for being there and consistently giving amazing music to this world, you’re helping so many people even if you don’t know it.
Came back from Iraq and heard this in the airport while sitting by myself in the corner. Broke down that I actually made it back in one piece....no one around me could understand

makes me think of being in my 20s,so strong,so dumb,hurting people.and not caring,finding out now how bad that was,metal,stone,all turns back to dust in time.
Because of covid19 I've lost my job my apartment and having to move across the state away from all my friends to be safe in the country, even though I've lost the simple life this music brings me peace
