A pity, because I never saw here a "Free Electric Band"....This song is amazing and a Life to tell! Here in Netherlands/Belgium this was a very great Hit! Very classy English, 1973......

I can't think of any other songs that mentions a Civil Engineer in their lyrics...

Alot of people forget Albert wrote the Hollies hit "The Air That I breathe". A very overlooked and talented musician.

Im 37 and only realising now what great parents I have. My dad has brain cancer and the experience has made appreciate him so much. Its a pity it took nearly loosing him to know just how much he means to me. You're  a hell of a dad and this is a hell of a track and thats why you love it.

I bought this as I finished school and was travelling home. That month I meet my wife and now 45 years later I am still listening to it and the memories simply flow back

" My father organised for me, a college in the East, But I went to California, for sunshine and the beach " ... I'm in Oz, but did the same thing, albeit Teacher's College in '75. Now I'm 63 y.o. Never regretted it, never looked back and did o.k. Follow your Heart.

This is THE SONG that consummated my love for my wife the day after our wedding. We were driving over the I-10 bridge over Lake Ponchartrain in New Orleans heading toward Pensacola, windows rolled down on my 1970's Cutlass (because my A/C had stopped working) smelling the salty air. I will NEVER forget this moment. This song came over the radio and I was singing (???) it at the top of my lungs because it said what I was feeliing. She had rescued me from a life of loneliness and despair where I thought I would never make true love to a women...ever. . After 42 years this is still OUR song.

I always loved this song, and it's only just occurred to me - what a selfish spoiled prick the protagonist is.
