She breaks her horses
With strange distant voices
That travel through the air, oh
They travel through the air, oh
She tames me with her voices
As she plays around with the forces
That travel through the air, oh
They travel through the air, oh
Distant howling out
It keeps you floating around
Distant howling out
Forces floating around
She breaks her horses
With strange distant voices
That travel through the air, oh
They travel through the air, oh
Oh, oh
I admittedly never gave this band much listens, but my wife played them around the house at high volumes and explained the meanings and intricacies inside the music, and now I can't get enough, this is my favorite song by them,.mainly because of how it relates to my marriage.
I wish I had someone to talk technical terms to.
I want to know exactly why someone else would like this song, because we all like music for different reasons.
For me, Deftones breaks away from common mainstream chords in their music. They're not afraid to try new things. Sure, some guitar chords are your standard power chords, 1, 3, 5, etc, but the singer will add something different to that. Instead of singing with the chord, he sings a different note from the guitars to turn it into a totally different chord.
For example, when the verse at :17 starts, the guitar is playing a standard Bb chord. However, Chino sings a C at "breaks", turning it into either a Bb sus 2, or a Bb 9 chord.
So, in conclusion. I like Deftones because they have more unique and meaningful chord progressions in their songs.
I would like to know if anyone likes them for the same reason.
