john coltrane was second to none. including charlie parker. he was on a direct connect to god. (or whatever you chose to call it) a true master.

Outstanding in absolutely every respect and one of my top three Coltrane tracks. Never sure why it is overlooked in favour of others. It is a track which you need to listen to alone in a quiet room without distraction to appreciate its complexity and quality of musicianship. Always a track I come back to time and time again. First three notes Coltrane plays, I immediately receive goosebumps all over my arms. The way Coltrane makes the sax sound so ethereal, it really takes you places man.

One of the most poignant pieces of music i’ve ever experienced. At a summer jazz program at a university in new orleans, the professors presented this piece as well as another Coltrane piece, Africa, to show music that very effectively displayed an image to the listener. This piece very vividly depicts a landscape after rainfall, and gives all the smells and sounds associated with it as well.

Such a symple tune but so beautiful...... like minimalist art. Those who think John Coltrane was only "sheets of sound" and see he was too great to be pigeon holed.
