I was 17 in 1982, i was DJ in Boulogne north of France, that song remenber me the good flavour of sun, funk, and carefree attitude even if the weather was not so good Then i met the girl who became my wife and still is. Souvenirs....
Before you break your back or get a heart attack!!always loved that line. And a killer bass line throughout. What a wonderful song and so many memories.....
am 50years old today i have listened to this underated 80s soul funk. jazx music for over 35yrs even today still up there by Kid Creole and his Coconuts
Remember this from the clubs back in early 8O's. I lived two avenues over from Danceteria on 21st Street. Another great jam with similar feel is Bon bon vie by T.S. Monk.
August Darnell aka Kid Creole, certainly has his own unique style, a pattern blending 1920 retro styles with early 80s dancefloor flavas, with a touch of of latin thrown in, this track took of for the group in a big way back in 1982, i'm a wonderful thing baby!
Kid Creole was the man! Very smooth, great record. I was in the studio audience in 1982 at the BBC Studios in Shepherds Bush for "Top of the Pops" (the MTV of it's day in England) when he performed. They had to do two takes by the way. Haha! After the taping August Darnell came into the audience and shook our hands! I also gave one of the "coconuts" a hug. We were ecstatic for days. Great memories!
