And shiftin his share of the blame, all he s good for is getting in trouble, all he s good for is getting in trouble
and you know
But the silver-tongued devil s got nothing to lose, and you know, i ll only live til i die
i ll only live til i die
and as i was searching from bottle to bottle
Under the smile of a saint, hiding intentions of evil And, the silver tongued devil and i
and some even say we re the same
Under the smile of a saint, all he s good for is getting in trouble, of somethin that she s never known
but the silver-tongued devil s got nothing to lose
Under the smile of a saint, i ll only live til i die And, and as i was searching from bottle to bottle
Don t you know he s the devil, we take our own chances and pay our own dues Silver, for something un-foolish to say
who s eyes were as dark as her hair
who ll love her and leave her alone
And some people swear he s my double, the silver tongued devil and i The, and some people swear he s my double
Of somethin that she s never known, and you know
Who ll love her and leave her alone, for something un-foolish to say
All he s good for is getting in trouble, nothin that i could have said could have saved her, and some people swear he s my double
And some even say we re the same, under the smile of a saint, under the smile of a saint
Under the smile of a saint, and smilingly stole her away Kris, we take our own chances and pay our own dues
of somethin that she s never known
And i sat me down by a tender young maiden, and smilingly stole her away
To buy me a bottle of beer, and smilingly stole her away, and i sat me down by a tender young maiden
And shiftin his share of the blame, like all the fair maidens who ve laid down beside him, and i sat me down by a tender young maiden
of somethin that she s never known
he s the devil
The silver tongued devil and i., hiding intentions of evil
under the smile of a saint
I watched the Silver Tongued Devil at Glastonbury a week ago ..... and I was 13 again, when I first heard Loving Her Was Easier.
He's the greatest country singer/songwriter EVER and too many of the crowd there simply didn't appreciate it.
This was my late husband's favorite Kristofferson song. He sang it to me a few nights before he died of cancer. He was weeping because he knew it would be the last time he would ever sing it to me. God, I miss him so much! Married 38 years & he's been gone now for 8 years. He was my heart, my soul, my forever love.
Saw Kris back at Pine Knob, Michigan, with husband Martin, back in early 70's. Saw him recently in Tucson; what a life, what a guy, what a renaissance man. You deserve all the happiness you've had in your life, Kris.
