bought this LP in London in 1984 on holiday. playing it makes me feel incredibly homesick for a place that might not even exist! Nevertheless, certainly one of the most moving albums - and possibly the only one in which Peterson writes his own music? thank you.

Oscar's Candiana Suite, released in 1964 and made up of 8 of his own compositions, was his celebration of his native Canada, with themes taking in the vast country from East to West. "Land of The Misty Giants" closes out the suite with a west coast sendoff (the title refers to the coastal mountains north of Vancouver, BC).

With my first summer job (1970) I got enough money to buy 'Canadiana Suite'. I had heard the album when I was visiting my 'cool aunt' in mid-sixties. Had to wait a few years, but it was - and still is! - worth it.
