Great classic that no Jazz lover can afford to be without.
I, personally, prefer it to Charlie Parker versions (and I love them very much). Sonny is one of the most consistent artists in Jazz but he sounds particularly inspired on this date.This is one of his best solos.

I know he played both Alto and tenor, but Sonny will always be my favorite (alto) player. He was just as good as CP, but his recordings had better sound quality.

But I would like to add: (Making) "Comparisons are odious." (Like between Bird and Stitt) or, indeed--anyone and anyone else. Most things have some merit. (I know. I know. The First Amendment.)
