This is nectar - as in food for the gods. What an ear this young man has! The fact that he’s a producer, arranger and a player rolled into one makes it special.
He’s self taught. Started with rap and grime and then listened to lots of JAZZ which makes his music so much more varied. Get that trumpet solo he builds in. Music for grown-ups young and old.
He was great live in London - in the after show, an unassuming young man ; no big show and pumping himself up - perhaps this gives his music a deeper sincerity: this piece, ‘Mulago’, and ‘Glad I Lived’ as well, being the stand-out pieces on what is a very good album.
He needs to be cherished!
I CANNOT WAIT for this new album. I've worn Antiphon out. These first 2 singles have me thinking Structuralism might be even better. Didn't think that was even possible.
I am not yet over Retainer and this comes along! Alfa Mist's music is so full of honesty and humanity. I am truly lost for adequate words - so so beautiful and so so well composed/produced. Props to his band members too for delivering. 28 more sleeps :( :)
PLEASE do a US tour. What do I have to do to make this happen???? Also PLEASE make Structuralism a CD as well. Thank you for making original DOPE music. May everybody reading this have a blessed day today!!
Amazing track ! For anyone wondering about the time signature or struggling to count along, it seems to be (at least from when the drums kick in) : 3x(5/8 + 6/8) + 5/8
