A lot of people talking about how they're too mainstream. Anti-Flag is a band with a message. A good message. I want as many people as possible to hear it.
More than 8.5 million people have cosmetic procedures in the U.S. per year.
This is the end.. of self mutilation.
The average weight of a model is 23% lower than that of an average woman. This is the end.. of insecurity.
Approximately one million men and boys suffer from anorexia.
This is the end.. of self hatred.
Clinical depression affects about 16% of the population at least once in their lives. This is the end.. of hopelessness.
As many as 10 million women and girls suffer from an eating disorder.
This is the end.. of self doubt.
80% of 4th grade girls have been on a fad diet.
This is the end.. of marketing disease.
Americans spend approximately $12.4 billion on cosmetic procedures per year.
This is the end.. of insanity.
By age 21, the average person will have watched 1,000,000 commercials.
This is the end.. of exploitation.
Billions of dollars are spent every year to make YOU feel worthless.
THIS IS THE END.
After reading some comments, I feel the need to share something here.
This song is simply about being yourself, love who you are, don't try to be or look like other people because that person is not you. They speak about non-conforming, and that is not about the style in which they choose to dress; it is about the way you conduct yourself. Conforming "(of a person) behave according to socially acceptable conventions or standards", for those of whom did not know. It is about behavior, not about their clothes, their tattoos, or their inevitable inability to dictate the placement of their songs.
So before you sit here and criticize this band for stating their beliefs, ask yourself if you have the cojones to do what they have done, which is take a stand against the common media you spend too much time watching, all of their commercials selling products that "make you better than what you are."
This band wants you to know you can't be any better than what you are, because you're best whenever you're yourself.
If you want to act like anything, act like yourself, and preferably, like an adult, since so many people seem to struggle with that concept.
was at an Anti-Flag show the other day. it was only at a bar but still one of the best shows ive ever been to. their crowd interaction is awesome, especially for this song.
and remember, if someone falls down we pick em back up
