This is the greatest example of hard bop jazz you will ever hear. Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, and Bobby Timmons are brilliant together. Doesn't get any better then this.
Well, we all hate waiting, but that just makes it all the more enjoyable when you actually get the album. Merry Christmas to you too, (and a Happy New Year as well)!
Line-up:
Mr. Art Blakey — drums
Mr. Lee Morgan — trumpet
Mr. Wayne Shorter — tenor saxophone
Mr. Bobby Timmons — piano
Mr. Jymie Merritt — bass
This was of course a Bobby Timmons composition and man it swings.
Check out the documentary “I Called Him Morgan!” on Netflix. Art Blakey and Lee Morgan music were played heavily in Lee Morgan’s documentary....my favorite documentary

Art was arguably the most important drummer in jazz history - not necessarily for vision or innovation ( note Elvin, Tony Williams, et al if ya gotta be technical ); but his nurturing of the greatest musicians of modern times...the father-figure of all great jazz geniuses...
