The people who enjoy Beck's music shouldn't feel like they're better than people who enjoy Beyonce's music, and vice versa. Obviously they're both talented artists because they were both nominated for album of the year. Listening to a certain type of music and being born in another decade doesn't make you inherently better than anybody else, and you shouldn't dismiss other genres of music as "garbage" just because you don't like it. Fans should respect other genres of music and recognize the hard work that artists put into their craft.

i underatand the video now. his old self died and is new again. his days on MTV and being "out there" is over hence the MTV astronaught and his young self in the goofie clothes. The new beck is walking around with his old self still having that peice of him with him. Then the reaper comes and kills the young part of him. The little girl gives the reaper flowers symbolizing his peace with his rebirth as an artist. Than they all walk away together happily. Very deep videos and amazing song

It's wrong to rain on someone else's parade. Beck has been putting out remarkable music for over 20 years and Morning Phase is no exception because it really is that good. Dude deserves it.
And for all the idiots and teenagers, keep in mind that he won Album of the year. An award that honors the artistry and technical excellence of the album. In comparison, Beck wrote, composed and produced all of the songs in Morning Phase outstandingly by himself while Beyonce needed other people to do it for her. This isn't an award for best-selling album or a fucking popularity contest.

What amazes me with this song is the INCREDIBLE SOUND. Mastering by Bob Ludwig. Please note: there are no crash cymbals in the mix, not sure there's hi-hats at all. This idea is borrowed from Peter Gabriel, I think. Also: the guitar you hear at the top sounds just like... Joni Mitchell, the vocal harmonies sounds like that of Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues. Heck the music sounds like the Moody Blues. Always remember that in terms of sound, LESS IS MORE, and this is a glaring example of what a top production should be.
