I buried my boy to this 19 years ago and it still tears me up everytime i hear it. I miss him so much. It was his birthday 2 days ago.

I thought when I found Tom Waits,I found everything I could want out of music. But then I discovered Beth. I guess she's just a little sugar on top :)

I have to admit, I like this way more than the original Ronnettes song. Orchestral fanfare just never really screams despair.

What a stunning interpretation of the Jeff Barry/Ellie Greenwich classic originally performed by the Ronettes.  Breathtaking depth of emotion!  She makes you FEEL it!

I was traveling the states when I 1st heard this song in 05,just got married in Vegas,it made me think of my Dad in Australia fighting cancer who wanted me to go on the trip and I sort of lost the happy moment I was in. He didn't make it but this always reminds me of him and I listen to this song when I'm down now because no matter how bad things get, someone else is worse off, that's been my motto since then. Oh and my wife and I are still together of course. Who said Vegas marriage's don't last!

To fate that denied us I damn thee... To what still curses us I rebuke thee... To your cowardice I forgive thee... To my lack of foresight I forgive me

Hey! thanks for posting this.. I agree "so good on her for keeping her integrity and not selling out!" Most likely that's what keeps her music pure, fresh, and real! thanks again.. PEACE

Music is like a bookmark. You always remember. I have songs that remind me of my Mum dying. Cherish them. I love this track and Beth.

This song is important to me. Over ten years ago I lived with someone I loved very much. She was pregnant and we were young and unsure so we didn't have the baby. Things started to fall apart after that. We broke up but continued to live together for a month until I found a house to rent. She would work during the day and I at night. This song was on my play list and I would get home from work, drink about 20 beer and listen. I moved out and a couple months later we got back together...only for another month. The decisions we make... I hear this song and I can smell our apartment, hear her voice, think of what could have been...

Going through a rotten breakup right now. This one expresses just how I feel about her right now. Beth Orton speaks my broken heart.
