My dad went to the same high school as did Bill Haley. In Boothwyn, PA. The now defunct Boothwyn High School. And he told me that way back in 1942 or 1943 during WW II, Haley performed as a student in front of other students at a school assembly. And the kids laughed him off the stage because they were fans of the "Big Band" sound by Glen Miller and others at the time.
He said also that Frank Sinatra had been ridiculed a couple years earlier at a concert for using a microphone, because his voice wasn't strong enough to be heard along with a "Big Band" as Vaughn Monroe and Bing Crosby were able to do without a microphone to amplify their voices.
The first rock n' roll song to ever chart was "crazy man crazy" by Bill Haley and his Comets which in my opinion makes Bill Haley the true king of rock n' roll!
Oh my god, the video is even skipping like a old scratchy record, that has been played over and over again. I freaking love it! Oh those wonderful years gone by, I miss them so much.
0:45 that guitar tho. There were good af guitarist back then. But when anyone thinks of guitarists they think about metal and punk stuff. Slash, van halen, synyster gates. I mean not to compare cause they are far superior. But this guys(in general) need to be recognized too. For their time it was badass. Like chuck berry, and many more
