Good old King Records, 1540 Brewster Avenue, Cincinnati...you could walk in the front door with a tune in your head and leave the back loading dock with finished albums! Owner Syd Nathan did everything in that one plant-writing, arrangements, recording, record pressing, talent booking for shows-shoot, he even printed the album covers! Vertical integration at its funkiest...

Just missed the 50's graduated in 66. Still love 50's, thru the 70' s. Best time ever.

Brings me back to my growing Days,Wish I was back there once again, Listening to the great Music of that time and era, Etc.

I found out that the mysterious 'thumping" sound is Bill D's foot 'thwapping" on the floor. Hear it? It's not a bass drum.

Best instrumental in the past 60 years. Always a favorite.

I have this on vinyl in its original sleeve. a bit torn but never the less plays brilliant. Great track. proper 1950s dance music CLASSIC

This is one of those records you can play and dance to until the end of time. It is still the highest charting record ever on the King label. It has taught countless bands how to play R&B (especially what a "groove" is in music). Though much has been made (and deservedly so) of Clifford Scott's groundbreaking sax work on this record, please don't forget that it is Billy Butler's equally stunning guitar work on Part 1 that made dee jays play both sides of the record (they even duet at the end of the record). All this would be nothing without Bill and the backing musicians playing the steadiest, most monstrous groove in the history of R&B (even the shouts are in place...and necessary). This is one for the history books indeed.
