I am the ex-offender
They let me out in the summer
I think I was in a coma
I didn’t know what to do
Oh no
Chorus (x2)
(go round, go round, go round)
Il watch myself hang on
Look out for the Bugman
I got no sense of existence
I know the nodding dogs
I go out in the city
I stay away from the bugs
Repeat chorus
I go out in the city
I stay away from the bugs
I go out in the city, I go out in the city
Look out for the bugman (x2)
Stay away from the (ooh, ooh) bugs
(space is the place)
Punky, trippy, psychedelically musically and a masterclass of blur's brilliance. Every member of blur are geniuses. The 90s was the new 60s definitely. Blur are one the best bands ever.
0:30 head banging mode switched on!
This unusual song is filled with loud, raw guitars which makes it such a good time. The distortion in this gives Bugman an unforgettable vibe which results to a more punk-like genre. This song doesn't appeal to everybody but is a proper jam. The song is overall unpredictable with the unusual space Is the place which sounds like a 5 year old messing around with GarageBand. Love it, 10/10.
Is this the first recorded instance of the term "Bugman" being used together with a description of behavior associated with atomized, spiritually and intellectually neutered postmodern life? It's a recurring theme in Blur's music, so I doubt this this song is some intentional way-ahead-of-its-time coining of the term, but it seems like they could have coined it accidentally here, decades before anyone else did.
I was trying to remember this song because I out of nowhere thought of the lyrics "space is the place" and digged through every song sang by Damon lmao
13 is such a great, deep and artistic album. The only song I don't like is B.L.U.R.E.M.I, but the others... Ahh, they're amazing. Trimm Trabb is a masterpiece
