The reason I love Bob's music is because it is so cryptic! Sun is Shining hits on a ancient level to which the rising of the sun symbolically represented the resurrection of the spirit just as Horace did in ancient Egypt and Jesus did in the Bible - both were "suns" literally and figuratively. Monday morning-Tuesday evening symbolizes the battle between good and evil but as the song says, "Sun is Shining" - good defeats evil. Bob's music is much more than a marijuana laden trip - it goes to the origins of our spirit and soul and how we must win the internal battle going on inside of each of us everyday by resurrecting the GOD within! Only then we can win the external battles we are faced with!

A year or so after Bob passed I was in Montego Bay for the SunSplash. In the wee hours of the morning between musicians it started to rain, I looked up at a full moon and not single cloud in the sky, at that moment one of the crew members picked up the microphone and said Bob Marley is with us right now. The volume went up and the crowd started cheering, It sent shivers down my spine as it still does today. Never forget.

Why does everyone assume all Jamaicans get high? Coming from a Jamaican family I confirm that’s just a stereotype I see many comments saying they listen to Bob Marley when they are high and that reggae is what they listen to when they are high off weed.... keep your stereotypes out of our culture! Stop putting us into a box and thinking all we do is get high!
