In 1958 when I was 9 years old, I bought this record for my cousin. The flip side was Rockin' Robin. THAT was her favorite song at the time. I was neutral about the songs.
LOve this guy. . . .awesome. . .those 1950's rockers pioneered the genre and had immense talent! And Bless Wolfman Jack for championing their gifts on his great ole XERB radio shows.. ..
My aunt used to play this a lot when I was a little girl back in the 70's. I loved it!! Never knew he was so attractive, as this is my first time seeing him.
It's better than the A side! Most of us agreed when it came out in 1958. We would call the local DJ on the radio and request Tossin' and Turnin' and asked that they turn the record Over and Over! They usually did. The Dave Clark 5 couldn't even get the lyrics right! They sang, "Everybody there was there, when the correct lyrics were "Everybody there was stag." Didn't rhyme with the next line, "This dance is gonna be a drag." Still one of my favorites!Just my .02.
The lyrics to this song have always bothered me but that's cause I've grown up hearing the Dave Clark Five version. "Everybody there went stag" makes far more sense than "Everybody there was there". too bad Dave Clark Five didn't keep the original lyrics.
