Here we are stuck by this river
You and I underneath a sky
That’s ever falling down down down
Ever falling down
Through the day as if on an ocean
Waiting here always failing to remember
Why we came came came
I wonder why we came
You talk to me as if from a distance
And I reply with impressions chosen
From another time time time
From another time.
everyone is connecting this song to a nostalgic moment in their life but I think this song is about nostalgia as a whole. it's amazing to remember good moments but even the best ones always have this underlying deep sadness for some reason. you don't always know why you thought of it in the first place but the emotions and thoughts will instantly humble you. you get this strong feeling of empathy for anyone involved in that memory and a strange sense that you did something wrong because you subcontiously reflect on your faults and mistakes of that time in your life. your left in a neutral state but one of fleeting extreme sadness and extreme happiness that even each other out. Then it's gone. and your left a bit taken back, but nothing you haven't had before. so you continue about what you were doing but with a weird feeling, not bad or good but instead almost refreshing. it's like the air after it rains. It's a bit revitalizing and not extremely noticeable but it's there and you feel it.
Here we are
Stuck by this river
You and I
Underneath a sky that's ever falling down, down, down
Ever falling down
Through the day
As if on an ocean
Waiting here
Always failing to remember why we came, came, came
I wonder why we came
You talk to me
As if from a distance
And I reply
With impressions chosen from another time, time, time
From another time
I heard this song in TV, I grabbed a pen and wrote 2 lines of the song in my arm and i googled them. first it didn't work out, then I found it.
Now I'm enjoying this beautiful melody.
I was sitting at an empty beach, listening on headphones when I first heard this album. I will never forget the experience, sitting there, watching the water, listening to something that I thought, had never been listened to before and feeling like Columbus discovering new music.
