There are a lot of versions of the story's about the Norse gods some painting them more or less sympathetic, I but found it interesting that the one time Tyr acted dishonorable/unjust was when he betrayed Fenrir. Tyr was Finrir's only friend, you can say "it had to be done" and "he was the only one who could do it", but that betrayal cost him his hand, friendship, and would do nothing but fuel the Wolf's hatred of the Aesir. They did this all because of the fact that they feared the wolfs hunger, power and that it would kill Odin in the future, not because of anything the Wolf had actually done yet, and after tying him up they shoved a sword in his mouth. To me this sounds like one of those story's that when some one sees the future and works to prevent it but in doing so insures the future they were working to avoid. It seems better to live as if the future isn't written, because if it is then nothing you do about it, so i wouldn't go obsessing over prophecy.

I'm not a heathen, but the norse gods are the best. Sometimes I wish I was born in some scandinavian country and grow up hearing tales about this awesome mythology.
