An eerie classic! Hornsby pulls it off flawlessly. His voice has just the right amount of pathos for the arch, sad lyrics and melody.
Leave it to Hunter to catch the perfect mood in the lyrics. The line "...just can't see so well with my fading eyes..." I mean, MAN! That's powerful and wistful, totally evoking the feeling the song sets up.
Just perfect.
I want to crowd funding new Ent. Network. This music should be locked Cable nets or Webcast! Sting, W. Marsalis, Brian Blade Fellowship on and on Stevie Wonder!!!!! Higher Ground.
I've been listening to Bruce for 20 years. The first 3 albums with The Range is great, so is his 2 first solo albums, (later i think he's been experimenting a little bit too much). This song and "Continents Drift" from the new album "Levitate" is Bruce at his best. I love the sound image he gets, so dynamic and wide, he's a great musician!!
Just look at the intensity of the other musicians. I've been to many BH concerts and it always amazes me to see how his band stare at him like birds of prey. They will routinely change tempo, dynamics and key with just the slightest raise of Bruce's eyebrows or chin. Spectacularly tight. Truly a musician's musician-- all of them!
