will take your fear away
wait for the break
Run for your life, run for your life
With nerves at an end, will take your fear away
Only for your sake, it could be nothing at all Your, here in the light
run for your life
Keep on running run, it doesn t matter at all
keep on running
As heroes pretend, run for your life
the loneliness around you cuts like a knife
Run for your life, run for your life run, cause somebody s watching you
Keep on running gotta run, and in a while another day
Don t be afraid of the night, run for your life, will take your fear away
don t make a sound
you better run
Run for your life, but in the night you stay
Run for your life, as darkness arrives
With nerves at an end, look to the right
keep on running
It doesn t matter at all, and in a while another day
But in the night you stay, run for your life run
you better run
cause somebody s watching you
don t be afraid of the night
In my opinion, this sounds - in its chorus, at least - a little bit like a watered-down version of Sweet's 1976 classic, "Fox On The Run." I mean (if this makes any sense) it sounds like "Fox On The Run" slightly slowed-down, and with thick rubbery synth-lines instead of guitars. But that's not a bad thing. I really do like this song; I like "Fox On The Run", too.
Much as I love this track...sometime in about 1983 I met up with Trevor Horn, (we weren't close friends but would get together to compare notes) and he asked me what I'd been up to and I played him a rough mix of this track. I asked what he'd been up to and he played me a rough mix of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" that he'd done with YES. I immediately made the decision NOT to be a producer and just write songs because I knew I couldn't ever compete with someone who was that good.
I love Bucks Fizz and this is one of their best songs. The video is worth checking out because:
a) Mike Nolan looks incredible
b) The epic song itself
c) 03:35 - the camp dancing suit of armour!
Cheryl Baker or Jay Aston, it doesn't matter. Both lovely, then and now. Good song, again I don't know why RCA didn't promote them over here in the US.
