When I was teenager, I was in Love with this song... It was side "B" on my 45 rpm record. Side "A" was, "It's Only Make Believe." I love both songs... and the sexy gravel in his voice~! Yes, he also reminds me of Elvis on this song~! Summer of 1969 and I am 16, I go and visit my aunt in Nashville for a week. I came home in love with Conway and Elvis.. we played her albums a lot that week, singing along. I still remember it so well~!! Thanks Aunt Raye. She is still living in the same house and she is 90 now~! An amazing woman.
I saw Conway several times, Elvis once. Conway lived in the OKC area. We ran into each other in a restaurant, didn't speak, just nodded, and a 2 finger salute. I was too shy to approach him.
I remember when I was a kid back in 1970 Conway and his band we're on the way to a gig and pulled over in a shopping area and play the few songs for us and that is something I'll never forget! How cool is that!
