She was probably shot first in Tehnicolor in "Her Jungle Love" (1938), again dressing sarong and reunited along with Ray Milland from former The Jungle Princess.

This is Hawaiian music, I think. I'm old enough to have heard a radio programme called "Hawaii Calls" from way back in the late 50s/early 60s and this is the kind of music they played. Pretty good too.

I love this song - the feelings it invokes can't be adequately described...

Thoughts of Hawaii Calls on radio -- my dad could never skip listening to the radio when it was on, it didn't matter who was visiting, he always excused himself and went upstairs with his radio program......

Alfred Newman was such a great composer. "How The West Was Won" is one of my all-time favorite soundtracks. I love this song, too, and finally saw "The Hurricane" on TCM not long ago. Melody, no lyrics, but I am glad the lyrics were written by Frank Loesser, a marginally successful lyricist mainly known for "Guys and Dolls." I'm no fan of Loesser's work but here, the music is beautiful and the lyrics are as well, a perfect match. Dorothy looks and sounds beautiful on this song.

Wow, I wish I'd been around when that radio program was on, I love this style of music and I'd like to hear more of it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Now this is songwriting. All subtlety is lost sometimes with volume and verbosity: signs of romance missed... between the lines!

When i was 7, I was a hula dancer. The moment I was told that I was about to learn the song, I was so excited. I was already a show girl but this dance was for the advanced keiki (kids'). Man I havent heard this song in forever and I'm 21. I was listening to this playlist that had this song on it with my husband and I suddenly had flashbacks from many performances. Man I stopped hula and tahitian at 15 years old. Been six years since I had done my last performance. Two years since i last was in Maui.

Well, I've been to many Pacific islands, including the Cook Islands, Hawaii and Samoa and haven't either. Bit of licence needed likely. But Dorothy looks like a girl from there and they're not bad, let me tell you.

She certainly was sensuous, even in her "darker" poses.

Besides being a beautiful woman, she had a soft and agreeable voice! Thanks for posting!
