Man, i love this song. it always reminds me of the times when i was high as a kite the whole time. Sometimes i got so wasted i didn't even know my own name anymore. But then, one day, i lowered my glass and said to mysel "Mike, you can't go on that way! you have to stop drinking RIGHT NOW!" Sure, it is not easy to stop right away. To make that decision will change a whole life, i can tell you that. So here i am. 15 years older. Looking back at what has been. My name is still not Mike and i am drunk as fck.
19 years ago, July 1996, DKM released their split 7inch with Ducky Boys, which was the first release ever for both bands and featured Barroom Hero, a song most of us likely first heard on the first Give 'Em the Boot album. .
I actually prefer mcColgans voice. For dropkick murphys songs now, I'd prefer to hear Ken Casey's vocals then Al Barrs. I don't know why. I just do. I like McColgan's band Street Dogs too.
The following albums they released are all well and good. Cheers to any and everyone who knocks back a pint or 12 while listening to em. But my fav hands down is and has been "Do Or Die", greats songs and I really liked the original singers voice and all around stage presence. Plus when I hear "Barroom Hero" I'm instantly teleported back to 1997-98 when I first heard it in high school.
