My people, Maurice our brother, now our ancestor was not referring to jesus or the 10 commandments when he wrote this song. He is speaking of true love being written in the stone.. the pyramid stones, the temple walls, all in Kemet, or Ancient Egypt. All of his album covers are telling us the story of who we are and where we came from. Once our people realize that true love, that's written in the stone, we'll never be alone and love from our ancestors will lift us up and take us home... to our true spiritual selves...
I believe in 50 years time Maurice White will be mentioned in the same breath as Bach, Brahms & Beethoven and that's not hyperbole! In the Stone is a perfect specimen to illustrate his genius.
EWF was always perfectly disciplined but could still make your upper lip curl because the funk could not be denied or resisted. Kool in the Gang, Brass Construction, Tower of Power, The Ohio Players, Con Funk Shun were all great . . . but then there was still Earth Wind & Fire . . . because there was Maurice White.
