A real country gentleman, one of the things on my bucket list was to see him live.  Missed that one.

This is REAL COUNTRY! Kick ass steel guitar is essential. The wussie cowboy bands today have NO steel player or a piss poor wuss.

Watched ET sing this in Odessa, Texas sitting next to his son Justin who gave me the seat. Justin was impressed because I chose to watch his father rather than going to the strip joints with my friends. A day I will never forget! Ernest Tubb is the best of country !

About 15 or so years ago, I stopped in Ft. Worth to get something to eat. I asked a local where I could find some good eats and he told me where to find it. As I walked inside, it was as if I had stepped back in time. The waitresses wore those uniforms with aprons, beehive hairdo's and they called everyone "honey" or "sugar". What caught my ears though was the sound of ET singing "Waltz across Texas". They still had those coin boxes at the booths where you could put your change in and hear some of the best music ever. I miss those days.

I'll be 65 in a few days. But when I hear this song, I'm 8 years old, standing on daddys feet as we glide around the kitchen with him singing to me. That's what memorys are made of. That's the good stuff.

It's no wonder Ernest was a star. He had staying power. People (myself included) still love to hear these songs after 50+ years.

He could hardly sing but he was still one of the greatest country singers ever. Stylish and immensely influential.
