Ah maaann.. This makes me really really wish Zappa had lived into the years where video games became mainstream. He might have made some of the most badass game soundtracks.. I wouldn't be surprised based on how incredible all his music is.
I bought my first CD eons ago to test out new CD players in the Navy Exchange, so - I got the Zappa CD with "G-Spot Tornado", and salesmen would run around frantically, trying to figure out what was wrong with the stereo - time and again, it was most comical.
I never really agreed with Frank when he said the synclavier was better than humans, but in this case, I think he was right. They just can't play it tight enough to get the effect.
Frank Zappa was simply another composer of the 20th century following his craft. Never set out to be a rock star, or the best this or that. He merely composed music. The results speak for themselves; IMHO: superb genius. To others - who knows?
