Lovely playing here...I've just read that Abramovic's teachers have included Natalie Phillips, Leon Fleischer, Eleanor Sokoloff, and Harvey Wedeen. Impressive! (:-D)
I struggle through these .. so good to hear them as they should sound! There is great subtlety of harmony here in a small package. Yes, the French influence is clear ... although often classed as a quintessential English composer, Delius spent most of his life in France; he was strongly influenced by the Impressionists, although only a few of his works are truly impressionist (e.g. first 2 movts of North Country Sketches, Song of Summer).
Yes I like it! Surprising, it seems he was born in bradford from german parents, but his music sounds like french music! Maybe because he studied in France later?
Having just recently finished an arrangement of "On Hearing...." I was interested in the use of harmony in the first Prelude. It is fascinating to hear how Delius gives his music momentum.
While I accept the French influence, if you play the piano you may be more inclined to hear Grieg's pianistic style, especially in the second prelude.
Lovely how YT offers us a chance to hear something that isn't too often heard. Thanks.
