here it comes again
when he came round to see her that way
i ll begin to feel the chill of an early fall
It s going to be cold out tonight, she just looks away, needing to hold her so tight
oh i ll be sober some
And i ll begin to feel the chill of an early fall, and way down deep inside me something die, here it comes again
Needing to hold her so tight, bitter winds are sure to follow, and i ll be drinking again and thinking whenever he calls
Oh i ll be sober some, bitter winds are sure to follow, he s just someone she knew
oh how quick they slip away
here today and gone tomorrow
now there s no doubt
oh i ll be sober some
And i ll know that s not all, oh i ll begin to feel the chill of an early fall An, oh i ll begin to feel the chill of an early fall
Oh i ll be sober some, and i ll be drinking again and thinking whenever he calls
When he came round to see her that way, he s just someone she knew The, when he came round to see her that way
here today and gone tomorrow
She just looks away, needing to hold her so tight
he s just someone she knew
oh i ll be sober some
Oh how quick they slip away, and way down deep inside me something die
Will blow like a cold winter squall, will blow like a cold winter squall
From her own end of town dropped by today, and i ll begin to feel the chill of an early fall, that same old chilly wind
Now there s no doubt, oh i ll be sober some
What a fantastic job! But, we know, George could sing the phone book and we would love it.
There will never b another country singer better than George Strait.
Thank God that he IS country. Not many left nowadays.
This is the original version from the album of the same name. The "50 Number Ones" version is 12 seconds shorter. Someday I'll post all the shortened versions included on "50 Number Ones" and you can compare.
A very relatable song. I remembering being in dating relationships where this kind of thing that Strait is singing about here happened. You don't want to appear threatened or paranoid but the gut feeling is rarely wrong.
U can't get too much more successful than George Strait. I mean, how many singers have been played on the radio 34 consecutive years without going downhill at one point. probably no one, except him. He's one of the most SUCCESSFUL singers of any genre of music.
Well her old friend,
from her own end of town dropped by today,
And way down deep inside me something died
When he came 'round to see her that way
.
Here it comes again that same old chilly wind
Will blow like a cold winter squall.
And I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
And I'll be drinking again
and thinking whenever he calls,
There's a storm coming on,
it won't be too long till the snow falls.
Oh I'll be sober some,
But when October comes and goes and no time at all
I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
+++++++++++++++
Oh how quick they slip away,
here today and gone tomorrow.
Love and seasons never stay,
bitter winds are sure to follow.
Now there's no doubt,
it's gonna be cold out tonight;
I've shivered all day and when I look in her eyes
Needing to hold her so tight, she just looks away.
Oh she'll swear that it's true,
he's just someone she knew long ago,
and I'll know that's not all,
And I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
Oh I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.....
