This song was written by my father Jerry Gray. The name has nothing to do with an actual string of perals. He wrote this song at the house he bought for my grandfather and grandmother, on Pearl, Street in Sommervile Massachusetts. The "string" was the relatives living on the street and nearby. He was about family and considered them all conected. Hence the string of perals, about his family being and how much he loved them. True story...he told me this himself. Al Gray

When I bought my wife "a string of pearls" for Christmas a year or two ago, this song was playing in my head.. when she opened the box!

My parents are dancing to this too. I am sure my Dad danced more than a few swing tunes with some 'dolls' in his day. He was just 19 in 1942 and in the Navy. He lived 90 long years. Thank the Lord for his generation of brave and courageous men.

Always remember my father listening to Glenn miller what's that rubbish I used to say its only now I realise now I in my 50s it was music pure and simple .

Some of my favorite childhood memories in the 1980's were spending summers at my grandparents' house on Lake Keowee in South Carolina. My granddad would throw the doors open to the porch at night and flip on a Glenn Miller record. Every time I hear these great songs, it brings me back some great memories. And I'm so thankful I've got them and it opened my mind to different music. And on a tough day, these songs completely clear my mind.

the architecture of this music is phenomenal. I just spent 10 days at the montreal jazz festival. too bad the kids of today have nothing like this
