I've been visiting this video for years now. It still hasn't gotten old.
Nice to see the views have increased. I have a fond memory about how this song was discovered in my world.
"TWO DUDES!" Great riff, great drums, great mechanized/robotic repetition, semi-deep yet vague/universal and minimalist lyrics, also really like the guy's voice in general, goin' from yell to almost soft sing. "I remember (Xnoy)...BIS-ness..."
Godflesh have this industrial vibe like no one else, its kind of like standing on top of a mountain over the clouds and the snowy land. Justin Broadrick is a genuis.
Xnoybis
“Xnoybis is a Latin expression, like a religious thing. What it means is a spiritual transcendence, that form of escapism. We're always examining things like escapism, we're obsessed with people's different forms of how they can escape the world, or how they can become more involved, or how they can be a slave.”
My first ever Godflesh song i heard back in '97 (it was from Earplugged collection CD by Earache) when i really got into extreme metal genre and by that time Godflesh sounded so weird, so different that it took me awhile to get used to their sound and now 18 years forward, i'm a huge Godflesh fan and even today, there isn't really any other bands like this. Godflesh is unique!
7 years, I didn't realise FF started so early - I do love "Soul..." and "Fear...".
I think it's a real shame how they got so populist and the quality suffered so much.
