Gordon Lightfoot - Early Morning Rain download song

Although I have many favorite songs by Gord, this one tops my list. He is at the absolute top of his game on this one. From the lyrics to the wonderful 12 string strumming this song is flawless.

Canadian's are good people with a high moral sense. Worked with them on jobs in wisconsin. They stick up for one another, and know how to have fun after the work day is done.

After being out on post all night in Vietnam, a posting truck picked us up. It was a light rain (Not like the torrents that came later!) I remember Mike Mills sang this song.. everyone was quiet, listening to him sing.. I remember the rain dripping off his helmet. When he finished, no one said a word... Seems like yesterday...

The sheer poetry in this song is astoundingly beautiful. The degree to which Mr. Lightfoot makes me care about this mysterious guy watching the plane take off and hundreds of miles from his home is amazing. A genius at songwriting.

I miss my first big, lovely, romantic, and funny friend so much, but I lost his address. His name is Jan Dekker from The Netherlands. It was when we were 18 and 20 years old, now I am 61 years old. But then, way back when, he had a green car, a Peugeot, and he always made me laugh. He was also very romantic and we kissed for hours, just kissing in his car, and on the radio always was Gordon Lightfoot! So romantic!!! We were 18 and 20 years old.
