This West-Virginian rock-a-billy was a bit wild, doing his "representing".
He never became popular nationwide.
According to The History of Rock and Roll Music, this was recorded in 1955.

The Original Psychobilly, circa 1955. Which is funny, since The Cramps are presented as the first psychobilly band, and they got it from doing a cover of this song in 1976!
RIP Hasil AND Lux. Saw both multiple times. I first saw Hasil at a dive in Boone County, WV called "The Corner Pocket." My friends and I thought we'd probably be beaten up or stabbed, but we had a great time. By the way, nearly everyone gets the lyrics wrong, including Lux. Instead of "dinosaur about to jump out of that seat," it's "dyin' box of that Lau Lau cheese." I have no idea if I'm spelling Lau Lau correctly, but it's a reference to the blocks of government cheese that were handed out to poor people. Commodity meat was of the same ilk.
Great! Just watched "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things", and had never heard of Hasil Adkins. Well, someone to do Appalachia proud, and perfect for the film's later setting.
